The City of Eureka provides eight volunteer opportunities throughout the year in a wide variety of departments. Opportunities can range from one-time events to long-term commitments.  Volunteers gain new skills, meet new people, share talents, develop greater knowledge and understanding of city government, help solve community issues, secure job references, explore career possibilities and gain personal satisfaction of making a difference in our community.

UPLIFT Eureka supports community members experiencing homelessness with accessing vital community resources to obtain housing, employment, and reclaim their independence. Volunteer Co-Pilots (that's you!) are matched with a community member in need to provide companionship, guidance & support in identifying and reaching their goals.

UPLIFT Eureka Co-Pilot Program

Environmental Stewardship

E.C.O. Eureka is a branch of the city’s environmental stewardship program. Help promote sustainable lifestyle habits, clean and protect the beautiful land and marine ecosystems that surround Eureka, or help with our educational outreach campaigns.

Parks, Playgrounds & Trails

Celebrate our beautiful natural landscape. The Parks, Playgrounds & Trails opportunity is dedicated to keeping Eureka beautiful and free from graffiti and litter.

Public Safety

Interested in law enforcement? Public Safety has multiple programs to engage citizens with the Eureka Police Department.

Neighborhood Beautification

The Neighborhood Beautification program energizes volunteers to reduce litter, tackle weeds, sidewalks and gutters and combat graffiti while enhancing the appearance, property values, and attractiveness of our city.

Wildlife Conservation

Redwoods are not the only rare species in Humboldt. Eureka’s very own Sequoia Park Zoo is home to many rare species of animals. Get up close and personal with wildlife conservation opportunities.

Youth Mentorship

Are you a child at heart? Do you like to play around and have a good time? Look into becoming a Youth Mentor and be a positive role model for the children in our community.

Beyond Empower Eureka

In addition to Empower Eureka, there are a wide range of amazing volunteer opportunities throughout the city. Check out the various organizations.
